Dear Friends and Supporters of the Arts,
Another season for the Wilmington Concert Association
customarily involves the President’s Letter — so here goes
my second letter to all of you arts lovers about to enjoy
our 81st season. As we launch another four-score years,
it is good to take stock of who we are.
Many in the Wilmington and Southeastern North Carolina area
will tell you they have never heard of us! Amazing, really, but
true. Here’s the answer to Who We Are: The Wilmington
Concert Association consists of everyone who buys a subscription
to our season as well as everyone who donates to keep our
program going.What We Do: We have a totally volunteer
board which for the past 80 years, has brought the very best
in entertainment to our region and has built future audiences
by endowing free seats to students. Who Helps: Anyone who
buys a season ticket at $140. Season ticketholders make up
our solid base and those who purchase single tickets at $50
also contribute to our organization.
Why do we know this program deserves to keep flourishing in
these challenging times? The Wilmington Concert Association
has been the benchmark for bringing international quality music
and dance to our area.We invited the first symphonies to come
to town, we introduced Wilmington to international dance
and we were the first organization to bring chamber music to
our fair city.

that Wilmington loves opera, and as a result, we proudly
present two live operas this season!
I think you’ll agree that the Wilmington Concert Association,
this grand old institution — without paid staff — has been
“on to something” for many years. Let’s make the 2010-2011
season another success. We are the very definition of a
“non-profit arts group” — every tax-deductible contribution
dollar goes to our program or to our community outreach.
